Dr. Dimpy Kalia’s lab awarded the MIT-IIT Kanpur Seed Funds research grant by MIT, USA

The research group of Dr. Dimpy Kalia (Department of Chemistry) has been awarded the MIT-IIT Kanpur Seed Fund grant with Prof. Elizabeth M. Nolan's lab at MIT Department of Chemistry to support their research on bacterial signaling. This grant will fund visits of Dr Kalia lab's students here at IISER Bhopal to Prof. Nolan's lab at MIT and will also provide funds to Prof. Nolan's lab for visiting Dr. Kalia’s lab at IISER Bhopal. These funds will facilitate collaborative research between the two labs on developing chemoproteomic probes of the bacterial secondary messenger, cyclic-di-GMP. This collaboration synergistically integrates the Kalia lab’s skillset in synthetic organic chemistry and chemoproteomics with Nolan lab's expertise in bacterial siderophores to shed light on the fascinating yet poorly understood c-di-GMP bacterial signaling mechanisms. In the long term, these efforts can lead to the development of novel antibacterial strategies focused on disrupting c-di-GMP signaling mechanisms.
