The Research group of Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Jha [Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences] developed a Combined Flood Vulnerability Index (CFVI) using various aggregation methods to capture the uncertainty in vulnerability assessments. The study evaluates the ward-wise flood vulnerability in Mumbai, compares it with an approximated vulnerability status during the 2005 floods, and identifies whether the status has decreased, increased, or remained stable over time. Results show that in 71 % of the regions (37.5 % became worse, and 33.5 % improved), there is a shift in vulnerability between the two time periods. The study aims to encourage effective decision-making and mitigate the impacts of urban floods. For more details, visit https://doi.org/10.1016/j.uclim.2025.102536.
