  • IISER Bhopal invites applications for faculty positions at the level of Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the following Departments:

    The applications received against the rolling advertisement upto the date of shortlisting shall be scrutinised and shortlisted by the designated committees, for conducting the recruitment process. Only the shortlisted candidates will be informed by the Institute, about the schedule of interviews as and when conducted.


    Selection Process

    Faculty positions at different level are recruited in various Departments through Rolling Advertisement. Positions are also advertised in newspapers. The applications are received in respective Departments. The Department Faculty Advisory Committee (DFAC) short lists candidates on the basis of application, seminar, input from faculty members of the concerned area of specialization, and recommendation letters. The Institute Faculty Advisory Committee (IFAC) reviews the whole thing and takes decision to call a candidate for an interview.

General Information About The Posts Advertised

    • The Institute reserves the right to (i) relax eligibility criteria in exceptional cases; (ii) consider anyone who has not formally applied in response to this advertisement, and (iii) fill the position at lower/higher level than that advertised.
    • In addition to the regular pay, all permanent posts carry House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance and other allowances as per institute rules. Central Government employees will be covered by New Pension Scheme (NPS) of Govt. of India.
    • The qualifications prescribed should have been obtained after attending regular courses from recognized Universities/Institutions.
    • Relaxation in age, educational qualification and/or experience will be considered in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates, with the prior approval of the Competent Authority.
    • No interim enquiries/correspondence/communication of any sort will be entertained on the matter.
    • Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/Ex-servicemen, etc. will be as per Govt. of India norms.
    • Candidates working in government departments, public sector undertakings and Government funded institutions should apply through proper channel.
    • The eligibility criteria indicated are bare minimum and a mere fulfilment of the same will not entitle the candidates to be called for an interview. If numbers of applications received are large, the Institute may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualification and experience higher than that of the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.

    NOTES

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: PhD with First class or equivalent grade in preceding degree in respective discipline, with a consistently good academic record. Maximum age is 32 years for general candidates (to be relaxed by 5 years for SC and ST candidates and persons with physical disability).

    • The minimum requirement of qualifications and/or experience may be relaxed in respect of exceptionally outstanding candidates in certain areas.
    • A mere fulfillment of required minimum qualifications and experience does not entitle a candidate to be called for discussion.
    • The Institute reserves the right to fill or not to fill the posts advertised.
    • Separate online application must be filled, if a candidate is applying for a Post Doctoral Fellowship in more than one Department.
    • The SC/ST candidates called for presentation/discussion will be paid AC3-Tier by Train or actual expenditure from their place of residence/work and back by the shortest route within India.

    • Campus facilities for Post Doctoral Fellows will be same as those of UG and PG students.

ACCOMMODATION : Suitable residential accommodation as per Institute rules shall be provided on the Campus on joining the Institute (this is subject to availability). In case of non availability of residential accommodation, HRA @ 20% shall be admissible.

LEAVE RULES: Each Postdoctoral Fellow will be entitled for 8 days of casual leave in a calendar year. They will be entitled for vacation leave during any period of the Institute's vacation or during mid-term recess up to a maximum of 15 days per semester. Leave not availed in any semester may be carried over to the next semester up to a maximum of 15 days. Leave on medical grounds can be granted to for a maximum period of 8 days in a semester on production of valid medical certificate.

MEDICAL FACILITIES: OPD medical consultation will be provided to the Post Doctoral Fellows as per the Institute norms. No medical reimbursement is admissible. They are encouraged to have a medical insurance policy in their name.

INTERVIEWS: The interviews for the Post Doctoral Fellow shall be conducted thrice in a calendar year.

Other Perquisites/ Allowances Common To All The Above Mentioned Permanent Post

  • Moving expenses of ₹ 1,25,000/- (for candidates from abroad) & ₹ 75,000/- (for candidates within the country).
  • Every faculty member of IISER Bhopal will be entitled to a fund of ₹ 1, 00,000/- every financial year on reimbursement basis, under Cumulative Professional Development Account (CPDA) scheme. CPDA will be available to meet expenses for participating in both national and international conferences, paying membership fees for professional bodies and buying books.
  • Reimbursement of telephone bills to permanent faculty members up to a ceiling of ₹ 1500/- per month.
  • Leave Travel Concession (LTC) by Air for home town and elsewhere in India as per Govt. of India rules along with leave encashment facility.
  • Children Education Allowance of up to ₹ 18,000/- per year per child for a maximum of two children.

  • Dr. R. Mahalakshmi, was honored with Ramalingaswami Fellowship and Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award, Department of Biotechnology.
  • Dr. R.S. Tomar, Project: Biochemical characterization of mammalian TypeB, Hat-Histone Acetyltransferase 1(Hat1). Project is funded under RGY1 scheme for three years (January 2010- January 2013) by department of biotechnology, India.
  • Dr. Himanshu Kumar was awarded Kishimoto foundation fellowship from WPI immunology Frontier Research Centre, Asaka University, (April- June 2010) and Ramanujan Fellowship from Department of Science and Technology (GOI) in February 2010, (July 2010)
  • Dr. Prashant Ghorai, Dept. of Chemistry received DAE-BRNS Young Scientist Award and DST-Fast Tract Project

The total budget of the project was approximately INR 1.3 Crores.
  • Dr. K.V. Adarsh, Department of Physics, IISER Bhopal, was obtained research grant on “Controlling, enhancing and tuning the optical and nonlinear optical properties of chalcogenide glasses and single molecule chalcogen containing macrocycles’ from the Department of Sciences and Technology, New Delhi. India. The total budget of the project was INR 47,38,480.00
